Features

You’re Invited!

Welcome to our brand new series, “You’re Invited!” The focus for this series is paper crafting for parties and gatherings. We’ll be featuring invitations, decorations, favors, place cards, napkin rings, and other items for the table, in addition to thank-you cards, gift tags, wrapping paper, decorated bags, and boxes – everything you’ll need to create memorable occasions. There will be birthday parties, tea parties, anniversary soirees, family reunions, Christmas buffets, Valentine’s Day dinners for two, summer barbeques, bridal showers, and more. “You’re Invited!” will include holidays that span the seasons, and will also include projects to help you turn simple everyday events into celebrations.

Pencil Me In

Welcome to our new series, “Pencil Me In.” We asked well-known and talented designer Marie Browning to share her techniques and tips using Tombow’s Irojiten Colored Pencils to create beautifully colored images. The trio of cards featured here is accompanied by step-by-step illustrations and shows how easy it is to use colored pencils to blend and layer color, enhancing your artwork in exciting new ways.

Bag It and Tag It

Welcome to our new series, “Bag It and Tag It.” For many, gift bags are indispensable, practical, and affordable alternatives to expensive gifts wraps and trims. They also provide the perfect opportunity for those who are budget-minded to use leftover scraps with great style. As the name implies, Robbie and I thought it would be fun to show some gift bag ideas (with a little twist, of course) that follow the 3 Rs of conservation (reduce, recycle, and reuse). First, reduce the amount of packaging in your life by recycling a plain gift bag that someone has given you and decorate it with a custom look, then give it to someone else. Including a second tag allows the gift bag to then be passed along to another gift recipient. (It might be a good idea to make the second tag a little more generic in nature so the bag can easily be used for a variety of occasions.) To celebrate spring, we chose the “Hello Spring!” collection from Little Yellow Bicycle to show how easy it is to create perfect Mother’s Day and Easter gift packaging ideas with a happy, vibrant color palette and embellishment choices.

Birdhouse Gift Bag

Summer is a season best known for barbecues, beach parties, and other outdoor celebrations. We continue our series with two fun gift bags that reflect the joys that summer offers, while staying true to the three Rs of conservation...

Birthday Centerpiece

Everyone is best of show at their own birthday celebration. Utilizing several rosette tier techniques [outlined in Rosette Art], make a spectacular centerpiece to honor someone special with layers of mementos, papers, and objects of significance. Adhere a skewer to the backing piece to stake the rosette onto their cake, pin-back hardware to allow the birthday guest to wear the rosette, or a hanging loop to turn the rosette into party décor.
